I was driving along a popular road along the coast when I saw this Peregrine Falcon perched on a lamppost. I had seen this bird a number of times before, but it was in a good location this time, so I parked my car and got out with my camera and long lens. I did not want to use a tripod because I knew how fast these birds were, and I did not know which direction it would eventually fly. I ended up waiting for over an hour before it flew. My arm was tired from holding onto my camera that long, but it was worth the wait as it flew in my direction.

A Peregrine Falcon landed on a cliff near the side of a road, its beak showing signs of recently feeding. I was nearby with my camera and long lens on a tripod, watching several falcons flying in the sky when this one decided to land nearby for a few moments before once again taking to the sky. The background is a view of distant waves approaching the Northern California coast.
