These Canada Geese were keeping an eye out for each other. Whenever someone would walk or jog past, they would start honking to warn the other. They quickly got used to me and relaxed for this shot.
This Golden-crowned sparrow was hopping among the flowers on this Grevillea in the Australian garden of the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum, stopping frequently to pick at the flowers. This bird has been tagged for identification by researchers, as you can see by the colorful bands on each leg.
