Cedar Waxwing with Toyon Berries
This Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum) was part of a flock of about 15 birds that were enjoying fruit from a number of trees, including these red Toyon berries (Heteromeles arbutifolia). I first noticed the Cedar Waxwings in a tree near my house. After a short while, they flew down the block to a neighbor's trees to enjoy these berries, as well as a number of persimmons in a nearby tree. Location: Santa Cruz, California.
