Burrowing Owl Family
Just as the sun started to rise, a Burrowing Owl family left their burrow and looked around. I watched as first one adult, then a second, came out of the burrow, followed a few minutes later by three young owlets. They were spread out near the burrow, and partially hidden by mustard plants growing nearby. I was a distance away with a long lens waiting for the owls to look in my direction. When that happened, I was able to make this family photo. A moment later, the owlets returned to the safety of their burrow, leaving the two adults to keep watch.
