Burrowing Owl with Ice Plant
A Burrowing Owl took over a ground squirrel hole on a sand dune covered in ice plant. Here it is perched near its burrow while keeping a lookout. It was turning its head frequently from left to right, pausing here and there. In this image, it stopped to look in my direction, then continued looking around. I especially like the sand on its beak.
