Pelican Above the Sea
A California Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis), in beautiful breeding blumage colors, resting on a rock with a view of the sea at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, Carmel, California, USA. Hundreds of Pelicans had been in this area for 3 weeks feeding on an abundance of fish that had been in the area. This Pelican was preening its feathers while drying off in the sun.
