This Golden-crowned sparrow was hopping among the flowers on this Grevillea in the Australian garden of the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum, stopping frequently to pick at the flowers. This bird has been tagged for identification by researchers, as you can see by the colorful bands on each leg.
The UC Santa Cruz Arboretum is well-known for it's beautiful flower gardens that attract many hummingbirds, including this Allen's hummingbird (female or immature).
